Now Accepting Applications for Our Internship Program!
For our introductory program, students aged 14 to 21 are referred to us through DVRS and may be eligible for up to 20 hours of service of each of the five areas. Areas include:
- Workplace Readiness Training to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities for finding and maintaining employment, including resume development and interview preparation.
- Job Exploration Counseling for identifying personal vocational interests, in-demand occupations and potential career pathways.
- Work-Based Learning Experiences at local businesses to explore job opportunities.
- Group and Individual Counseling on enrollment opportunities in transition or post-secondary education programs.
- Instruction on Self-Advocacy to learn about individual rights, responsibilities, and how to communicate thoughts, concerns and needs as they relate to employment and post-secondary education.
CEA's intermediate program offers students, aged 14-21, the opportunity to participate in a paid internship. The intermediate program is designed for students who are more independent and want to take the next steps towards their futures following high school.
CEA's out-of-school program helps unemployed youth, and young adults, ages 16-24, further develop needed skills. Young adults will have the opportunity to explore work and post-secondary educational opportunities on their path to adulthood.
Our Youth Services programs are provided in Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, and Middlesex Counties.
CEA recognized as a "provider of choice" for Pre-Employment Transition Services.
"I would be remiss if I did not mention how much of a pleasure it was to work with Ms. G. She made communication very seamless. She was always accessible and willing to answer any questions and address any concerns that I had. She was approachable and understanding. I believe that my son and I both had a positive experience with the program because of her and the hands-on care that she offered."
Paid Work Experience/Internship Program
We offer rolling admissions to our paid work experience program at no cost to you, which includes the above activities in a condensed format and a paid internship with a local business. Participants are paid $18.00/hour and may be eligible for travel reimbursement.
Student Testimonials
I wish the class was longer because this is how education should be taught. I really look forward to going every time and learning more about how jobs work, their benefits and felt it truly was [tailored] for me.
Through the class, I now have more skills for jobs in the future. I really found writing a resume to be very useful.
I learned a lot about how to apply to jobs and now feel like I can do more things on my own. The interview practice was really helpful and how to answer different interview questions.
I found this class helpful in getting me ready to get a job. I thought the most useful topic was learning how to plan for a job and to deal with money and taxes. Jason made the course fun and not boring. This was a great course.
